Shopping malls in Ipoh

Everytime when my relatives are back to Ipoh from other countries, they'll just go for 2 main activities. First of all is EATING and then followed by SHOPPING!

The prize is CHEAP and the choices available are still OK, even though it's not as updated and as fancy as you can get in KL shopping malls.

For now, I'll just introduce some of the main shopping malls in Ipoh. In the future, I would like to add on some other places for shopping, such as the night market (pasar malam) etc.

Jaya Jusco

This is my favourite shopping mall in Ipoh! I'm visiting Jaya Jusco much more frequent than any other shopping malls in Ipoh.

After its recent renovation, Jaya Jusco's fresh market is now open at 8.30am daily. Shop lots other than that is opening around 10.30am.

Some of the retail shop lots available are U2, Padini, Seeds, Soda, Fila, Timberlands, Swatch, Watson, Guardian, Secret Recipe, KFC, McDonald, Kenny Rogers, MPH bookstore, Popular bookstore...

One of the two cinemas available in Ipoh, which is the Tanjung Golden Village, is located at Jaya Jusco too. Besides watching movie, you also can go for bowling in the shopping mall.

Jaya Jusco Ipoh

This is indeed a very popular shopping mall with about 2000+ free parking lots on the ground and roof top. But it's still very hard to find for a car park after 1pm. However, the shopping mall has good traffic manage system, where its security guards will make sure there's no car blocking the road etc. That's one of my favourite on Jaya Jusco too. I certainly don't want to be blocked and stay inside the car under the hot sun just to wait to get out of the mall with my things. I bet you too, especially when one did buy a box of ice cream. *wink*

Before the closing, I would like to recommend the sizzling claypot mee from the foodcourt to you. This is one of my favourite food, the other are laksa and fried Lou Shu Fun. You most probably will getting hungry after your shopping, right?

Ipoh Parade

If you're staying at the Syuen Hotel Ipoh or Excelsior Hotel, I bet you 100% know where it is and most probably will hang out there for your shopping purpose.

Ipoh Parade is located in the city center and the parking fee is RM1 per entry. It's basically formed by Parkson Grand, Tesco and retail shop lots.

Ipoh Parade

This shopping mall is more suitable for teenagers as it is equipped with cinema (Golden Screen Cinema), bowling center, snooker center, amusement park, cyber cafe and karaoke (K-Box). All these are located at the top floor of the shopping complex.

Again, recommendation of the claypot rice and curry glutinous rice at the food court. Although the taste of claypot rice is not as good as it was since the change of ownership, but you still can give it a try.

Tesco

As you know, Tesco is one of the famous hypermart in the world. However, it's new to local residents as the Ipoh branch was opened just about a year ago.

When you coming out of the South-North highway, just take a left turn at the junction, you'll see the Tesco on your left and then followed by Jaya Jusco.

Tesco Ipoh

Same as Jaya Jusco, its opening at 8.30am and free parking. As it's hypermart, many products are selling at low price and it's suitable for you to buy your groceries here.

My recommendation is try out the "Roti Boy" (a brand of Mexico Bun) at the groud floor. It's the only "Roti Boy" available in Ipoh.
